PLANNING THE FUTURE
OF PUBLIC TRANSIT
Whether you’re catching a bus or a streetcar today, or hopping on a new form of transit in the future, HART is your public transportation provider.
We’re planning for tomorrow, with projects that will make transit travel in Hillsborough County easier and more convenient, and give you more reasons to get out of your car.
Here you’ll find some of the projects HART is working on that could one day take you where you want to go in a whole new way.
Alternatives Analysis
HART is conducting an Alternatives Analysis to address transportation needs in a study area that includes major destinations and activity centers in Hillsborough County. The Alternatives Analysis, or AA, is a planning study to identify and evaluate alternative transit modes and potential alignments. Click here to visit the website dedicated to HART's AA project.
Bus Rapid Transit
With limited stops, advanced technology, new modern station stops and vehicles, and faster travel times, HART's Bus Rapid Transit project will take passengers on a ride into the future.

TECO Line Streetcar Extension
HART’s streetcar extension project will extend the Streetcar north on Franklin Street to Whiting Street and the Fort Brooke parking garage. This extension will connect the citizens and visitors of Tampa from Downtown to
Harbour Island, the Channel District, and Ybor City. It is expected to open in December 2010. Click here for details on the project from www.tecolinestreetcar.org.
Bus Stop Accessibility Study
In 2007, HART began a system-wide evaluation of nearly 4,500 bus stops, transfer centers and transit centers to evaluate accessibility. The findings have been released in the Bus Stop & Facility Accessibility Study Draft Summary Report. To download a PDF document of the draft summary report, click the link below.
